![]() ![]() ![]() We had dinner together every Friday before games. Me and the two other wide receivers on the team, Mario Manningham and Hakeem Nicks, we are tight. New York Giants versus New England Patriots. But now I’m there on merit with my brothers. I started off as, like, the 10th wide receiver on the roster for the New York Giants, always thinking I was going to get cut. I’ve had to fight every step, from coming into the game as an undrafted free agent. How did I get there? I never had anything easy. I spent the warm-up just in awe of the occasion, seeing all those NFL legends – the guys who have played the Super Bowl before me – walking around that stadium in Indianapolis. But at the Super Bowl, everything is off, everything is different. It was difficult for me to calm the mind down.Īs an athlete, I’m all about routine – from the time I wake up to what I have for breakfast to my warm-up and stretching. Running through the playbook, all the media interviews, the hype. In the days leading up to the game, I couldn’t sleep. So, the two biggest things in my life happened right around the same time. My daughter, Kennedy, had just been born a couple of weeks earlier. There was a lot going on for me at the time, on and off the field. There’s not a day goes by that I don’t think about it. So, to win one and to score a touchdown on the biggest stage in world sport is just incredible. I’ve been to some of the most remote places on the planet and they know the Super Bowl. Such a global moment – up to a billion people watching you in more than 170 countries. I can’t believe it’s 10 years since I won the Super Bowl with the New York Giants. ![]()
